One of the gates at the Lake Merriweather dam yesterday failed but poses no immediate threat to the public, according to Rockbridge County’s emergency management coordinator Robert Foresman
Area residents can expect to see the Maury rise 2 to 3 feet through this morning.
Foresman says they’re trying to determine what caused the failure and how long it’ll take to make repairs.
